Galapagos Information

A trip to the Galapagos is a unique and unforgettable experience. The wildlife on these islands as well as under water is so diverse and abundant, that it is known to be one of the most impressive and magical places in the world. A trip to the Galapagos brings you closer to nature than ever before. In short, a trip you will never forget!

ATC organizes all kind of trips to the Galapagos Islands. Most common are the naturalist cruises of 4, 5, 8 or even 15 days. For cruises you have to note that during all these trips the first and last day of the itinerary are mainly occupied by traveling to Galapagos or back to the continent. Besides crusing we also offer other tours to the Galapagos Islands. Below you can find an overview of the possibilities that are available.

The only possibility to get to the Galapagos is by airplane. Once you arrive on these enchanted islands, you have many more possibilities however, concerning travelling in the archipelago itself.

One of the possibilities is a naturalist cruise. With a cruise you have a determined itinerary of 4, 5, 8 and in some cases even 15 days. The itinerary of 4 and 5 days together form the itinerary of 8 days. You will notice that you will have a determined itinerary, but not one determined group on the yacht. Constantly, passengers will be arriving and leaving.

There is a second option for a naturalist cruise: the charter. You can rent the yacht for several days and then the yacht is in your possession. There won't be any passengers leaving or arriving but the group on the yacht is determined and stays the same the whole time.

Another possibility that ATC offers you is island hopping. With these tours you are only allowed to visit the 4 inhabited islands of Galapagos (Santa Cruz, San Cristobal, Floreana and Isabela), however the sites that are visited by the cruises cannot be visited during an island hopping tour. This is a cheaper alternative to see the islands and you will spend the nights in a hotel on one of the mentioned islands and not on a yacht. During the day you will travel between the islands on small boats which are less stable, therefore we do not recommend this tour for people in search of comfort or who get seasick easily.

Also you can choose for a 'hotel package'. This implies that you will stay in a hotel on one of the islands. In the morning you can start with one of the many excursions and in the evening you can return comfortably to your own hotel. The excursions however are limited to the inhabited islands and sometimes small islands near Santa Cruz.

The last possibility is the single overnight stay. The advantage of this is that you can determine your own journey all by yourself and you don't have to follow some itinerary. If you want to know something else about Galapagos or the itineraries, don't hesitate to contact us!

Diving in Galapagos

The Galapagos Islands are as interesting underwater as above. Marine life in the ocean here is abundant, and Galapagos' Marine Reserve is known as one of the seven underwater wonders of the world! Not only you can find the most beautiful tropical fish here, but also sea lions, sea-turtles, dolphins, whales and there is a big chance that you'll encounter innocent hammerheads. Anything is possible under water in Galapagos!

Generally there are three possibilities to dive in the Galápagos.

The first possibility is 'live-aboards'. This is one of the best ways to experience the diversity of the Galapagos underwater world, as you will explore the best sites the archipelago offers. Usually these journeys are for one week or longer and there are a maximum of three dives per day. There are even possibilities of diving during the night. Don't forget that you should make a reservation several months in advance as there is few availability.

The second possibility is 'combined diving'. This is always in combination with a naturalist cruise. Usually a small boat with the dive master and all diving equipment comes to pick up the divers from the yacht that you travel with and you can combine a cruise with a wonderful experience under water! Normally this can be done only on few boats and only on certain days. This option should always be booked in advance.

The final possibility is to make daily diving excursions from your hotel. This alternative can be offered as a package or as single dives during a specific date.
